Eastern Water and Sanitation Company Limited (EWSC) has paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Chipata, His Worship Johnstone Silungwe, to discuss areas of collaboration aimed at improving water supply and sanitation service delivery across Eastern Province.
During the meeting held at the Mayor's office on 26 October, 2026, EWSC Managing Director, Eng. Aaron Mulinda, briefed the mayor on ongoing and planned projects being undertaken by the Company to strengthen water supply and sanitation infrastructure and improve access to reliable services for residents.
Eng. Mulinda also outlined key areas of collaboration, including support in securing land for future water and sanitation infrastructure projects. The Mayor welcomed the proposed areas of cooperation, emphasising the importance of water and sanitation services to communities.
“We must make sure that we partner to improve the lives of residents of Eastern Province,” Mayor Silungwe said.
The meeting also addressed challenges relating to land acquisition for infrastructure development and the vandalism of EWSC property. In response, the mayor assured the Company that EWSC would be consulted before plots are advertised for allocation, giving the Company an opportunity to identify and secure suitable land for future water installations.
The engagement underscores EWSC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with local authorities and other stakeholders to safeguard water infrastructure, support infrastructure expansion and enhance service delivery across Eastern Province.
