Eastern Water and Sanitation Company Limited (EWSC) was incorporated on 12th May 2008 under the Companies Act CAP 388 of the laws of Zambia to provide water supply and sanitation services to the urban and peri-urban population in Eastern Province.
The company commenced operations effectively on 20th January 2009. EWSC is wholly owned by the eight (08) local authorities in the province holding shares on pro-rata basis.
The company has been licensed by the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO) as the Regulator.
The company operates under the provision of the Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 28 of November 1997 which enables the company to operate on a commercial and viable basis.
All monthly bills are due by the 25th of every month. All customers with unpaind water bills are adviced to settle their bills to avoid disconnection of water supply.

EWSC is committed to providing reliable, safe and customer-focused water supply and sanitation services across Eastern Province. Below are the service guarantees our customers can expect.
EWSC assures customers of an adequate water-testing programme for quality control and guarantees that all test results conform to national drinking water standards.
Customers are assured of reliable daily water supply hours and operating hours at public service points.
EWSC provides water meters to ensure fair billing based on actual consumption. Meter readings and bill issuance are conducted regularly and accurately.
Customer queries, billing concerns and water supply complaints are attended to reasonably and as quickly as possible through accessible contact channels.
EWSC works to minimize unplanned water supply interruptions and sewer blockages, while ensuring customers are informed in reasonable time whenever interruptions occur.
Customers are guaranteed a minimum flow rate of water at their connections wherever technically possible.
EWSC aims to avoid unwarranted disconnections and customers may seek compensation where disconnections are unjustified.
EWSC undertakes maintenance measures to prevent sewer flooding and ensures quick response and corrective action whenever incidents occur.
EWSC maintains not less than 95% water quality test compliance with WHO and Zambian Standards. Water supply will not be less than the following hours in the districts:
EWSC offices and payment outlets operate 40 hours per week. Customers are encouraged to visit the nearest payment outlet for specific working hours.
Water meters are read once every month and customers should receive a monthly bill accordingly.
Customers are expected to settle their water bills before the 10th day of the following month.
If a water interruption exceeds 24 hours, customers will be informed of the cause through EWSC media communication channels.
Maximum waiting time for paying bills or filing complaints is 15 minutes.
Written complaints are attended to within 5 days. Other complaint resolution times are displayed at EWSC pay points.
EWSC responds to meter testing requests within 3 days.
Paid new water connections are completed within 10 working days.
Customers disconnected in error will be reconnected without paying any reconnection fee.
